My background
Hi, I’m Peyton! I’m a coach specializing in neurodiversity.
I have worked with neurodivergent children and adults for the last 10 years. I received undergraduate degrees from High Point University in Elementary Education and Special Education, as well as a masters degree in STEM Education for grades Pre-K through 12th. I worked in the school system for a while, and then returned to school at Johns Hopkins University in Maryland to complete a masters degree in Applied Behavior Analysis where I realized how damaging behavioralism is. I have since made it my passion to dismantle ABA at the root.
As someone who is neurodivergent myself, I have found strategies and procedures that have helped myself, as well as the children and adults I work with, to function in a world meant for neurotypicals. I strive to practice in a way that affirms the identity of those that I work with, and help them to find processes and procedures that will help them thrive in their environment. The goal of my approach is never to change the people I work with, as I find that the children and adults I work with are amazing in their own way - sometimes they just need help making that seen to those around them!
My goal is to empower and assist those I work with in thriving in our society as their most authentic selves! I am best equipped to work with adults who are autistic or have ADHD, and children or parents of children with a range of neurotypes- including autism, ADHD, emotional disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and oppositional defiance disorder.
